Situated
in the west of the Banat plain, Timisoara is a cosmopolitan city.
Finding itself close to Bucharest, Budapest, Belgrad and Viena the
population is a mixture of different cultures. The town's history
is characterized by resistance and lots of religious themes. In 1552
the town will be under Othoman domination and in 1716 under Autro-Hungarian
ruling for the next 2 centuries. Named 'the town of gardens', Timisoara
is well-known for its flower collections that is spread over 1,482
acres.

Banat's Museum is hosted partially
by the castle that was built by King Carol Robert; it is a monument
with an invaluable architecture and it is divided in several domains.
The Ethnography Section contains collections of Romanian popular
costumes and costumes that belong to other nationalities, decorative
textures, paintings on glass. The Public Section could be found
in the Green Forest where are unitied different equipments with
folk themes and the Art Section where tourists can see the magnificent
paintings of Romanian, Italian and German painters. Other attractions
are The Baroque Castle, built in the 1st half of the 18th century,
The Old City Hall, also built in a baroque style during 1731-1734
on the ruins of a Turkish public Bath, the most outstanding building
of the town which is The House of Prince Eugen de Savoia, The
Orthodox Cathedral, The Former Franciscan Monastery, Lupa Capitolina,
which is the copy of the well-known statue Romulus and Remus.
Visiting Timisoara you'll find lots of memorial houses, monuments,
statues, parcs and gardens.
