Shipka Church

 

 

Day 1:

Sofia (30 KM)

Arrival at Sofia Airport. Meeting and Assistance at the Airport. Transfer to the hotel. Accommodation at a 5* hotel. Transfer and dinner in a local restaurant.

 

 

 

Day 2:

Sofia (50 KM)

Breakfast. City tour of Sofia including St. Nedelya Sq., St George Rotunda (4th century), the Presidential Office Building, the National Theatre, the City Garden, Russian Church St. Nicolas, the Parliament Square, the St. Alexander Nevski Memorial Cathedral with the most valuable collection of Bulgarian Icons (13-19th century), St. Sofia Church (6th century). Lunch in a local restaurant. In the afternoon visit the National Museum of History and transfer to the hotel. Free time. Accommodation in Sofia. Folk dinner show at “Chevermeto” Restaurant.

 

 

 

Day 3:

Sofia – Rila – Plovdiv (320 km)

Breakfast. Departure for the Rila Monastery - the most famous and most fascinating monastery in Bulgaria, under UNESCO protection. Tour of the monastery and visit to the monastery church, museum and kitchen, known as Magernitsa. Lunch in the area of the Monastery. Departure for the town of Plovdiv. Accommodation at a 4* hotel. Some free time and dinner in local restaurant.

 

 

 

 

Kazanlak Tomb

 

 

 

Day 4:

Plovdiv – Kazanlak – Shipka – Etara – Veliko Tarnovo (170 km)

Breakfast. Morning city tour of the Old Town of the city of Plovdiv – an imposing open-air museum, situated on the three hills of the ancient Trimontium. Visit to the Ancient Theatre (a well-preserved Roman amphitheatre), the Ethnographic Museum, and some other interesting sites.

Continue on to Kazanlak with visit to the Thracian Tomb in Kazanluk (a UNESCO site). Visit to the Rose Museum. Lunch in “ Kransko Hanche”. Drive to Veliko Tarnovo, on the way visit to the Memorial Church of Shipka, erected after Bulgaria’s Liberation from Turkish rule as a monument of both Russian and Bulgarian soldiers who died in the fierce battles there. Stop at Etara – Bulgaria’s open-air museum of authentic traditional crafts, created to preserve the appearance and the spirit of the old time Bulgarian mountain villages and the manufacturing traditions of the region for future generations.

Continue to Veliko Tarnovo. Accommodation and dinner at a 4* hotel. Walk to Tsarevets foothills for the show “Sound and Light Show” (!!!Please note that the show depends on the weather conditions and can be cancelled in case of bad weather).

 

 

 

 

Bran Castle

 

 

Day 5:

Veliko Tarnovo – Arbanassi – Giurgiu – Brasov (365 km)

Early breakfast at 8.00. Panoramic visit to the medieval fortress of Tsarevets and the Old Marketplace, Samovodska Tcharshia (no visit); Tour of the neighbouring village of Arbanasi with visits of the Holly Birth Church and Constanceliev Church. Drive to Ruse, lunch in Ruse at Hotel Riga. Meeting with the Romanian bus and driver at Ruse, in front of the famous Hotel Riga at 14.00 hours (all changes are made there) and departure to Brasov. Arrival in Azuga - Halewood cellars, visit the wine cellars and have a wine and Champagne tasting. We will also have dinner here.  Accommodation at a 5* hotel in Brasov.

 

 

 

Day 6:

Brasov – Bran – Sinaia – Bucuresti (190 km)

Breakfast and morning city tour of Brasov including St Nicholas Cathedral, the Schei Gate and District (architectural reservation), the Old Town Hall Square and the Black Church (if opened). Continue to Bran where  we visit the Bran Castle also called Dracula Castle or the Castle from the Carpathians; short break at the handicraft open air exhibition in front of the castle. Lunch at a local restaurant in Bran. Continue to Sinaia where we visit the Peles Castle, former summer residence of King Carol I of Romania.

Arrival in Bucharest, accommodation and dinner at a 5* hotel.

Day 7:

Bucharest (50 KM)

Breakfast, after that, a city tour including: The Palace of Parliament, The Village Museum, The Patriarchy Complex, Victory Avenue, historic centre. Lunch at a local restaurant.

The Palace of Parliament (also called The People’s House; 1984-1989) is the most imposing administrative building in Europe (265.000 sq. meters), second largest building in the world, after the Pentagon in Washington.

The Archbishop’s Church is a high dimensioned construction built by Constantin Serban Basarab between 1656-1658.

The Village Museum is located on the Herastrau Lake bank. Its inauguration took place on May 10th, 1936. The permanent open-air exhibition contains 368 houses, household annexes, wooden churches, wayside crucifix and workshops.

Accommodation at a 5* hotel.  Dinner in Romanian style at Terasa Doamnei Restaurant – Drinks and Show included.

 

 

 

Day 8:

Bucharest - airport (30 KM)

Breakfast and free time at leisure. Farewell lunch at the Caru cu Bere Restaurant.

Private transfer to the Airport for departure.
