Day 1: Arrival on Bucharest Otopeni International Airport. Transfer to Bucharest. Accommodation at 3* hotel in the city centre of Bucharest. Festive welcome dinner in a restaurant in Bucharest. (30 km) Day 2: Bucharest. Breakfast. Sightseeing tour of Bucharest, including: The Vlad the Impaler’ Old Princely Court; the Archbishop’s Church and Palace, the Palace of Parliament (also called the “House of the People”), former residence of another “Dracula from Carpathians” - Nicolae Ceausescu; second largest building in the world, after the building of US Pentagon. Departure to Targoviste. Visit the ruins of the former Princely Court and the Chindia Tower. Lunch in Pitesti (the restaurant of Muntenia Hotel - 3*). (140 km) Day 3: In Curtea de Arges visit the sculptural landscape of Neagoe Basarab’ monastery and found about the Legend of Master Manole, an even oldest legend than the one of Count Dracula. Short break to the Poenari Stronghold, rebuilt by Vlad the Impaler as an “eagle nest”, on the edges of Fagaras Mountains, at the hystorical border between Wallachia and Transylvania. Departure
to Sibiu, crossing the Carpathians through the Olt narrow pass. On the
way, visit Cozia Monastery, hystorical monument from 14th century, erected
by the grandfather of Vlad the Impaler. Day
4: Sibiu. Breakfast. Sightseeing tour of Sibiu by foot, including:
the Bruckental Art Museum, the Stairs Passage, the Liar’s Bridge,
the Main Square and the Little Square, the Stairs’ Passage, the
mediaeval fortress’ walls, the Museum of Pharmacy.
Day 5: Breakfast. Visit the only medieval citadel in Europe that is still fully inhabited; mentioned in 1280 as “Castrum Sex”. Detalied tour of the citadel, including the Tower Museum, the Cover Stairs, the Church on the Hill. Feel the attractions of the Torture Room and visit the Mediaeval Weapons Collection. Visit the house where is supposing that Vlad “Dracula” was born (now a cozy restaurant). Short break
to visit the beautiful city of roses: Targu Mures. Departure to Bistrita.
Special “Jonathan Harker late lunch in “Coroana de Aur”
- the “Golden Crown” Restaurant, the same restaurant as
the one where Jonathan Harker, the main character of Bram Stocker’s
novel, ate before the arrival to the Dracula’s Castle!. Approaching
to the Dracula’s House, the horizon became dark and the forest
became cold and dark. The wolves’ eyes are the only lights into
the darkness. Finally, we arrive to the major point of our journey:
the Borgo Pass, where the Dracula’s Castle is waiting for the
Count’ Special Guests! Day
6: BBreakfast in “Dracula’s Castle”. Leaving
the Dracula’s House looking behind to be sure that no monster
is following us. On the way to Piatra Neamt, we follow the picturesque
scenery alongside the border of Izvorul Muntelui Lake with a short break
at the Bicaz dam. Day
7: After breakfast, we cross the Carpathians through the Bicaz
Gorges (the most impressive gorges in Romania). Short break in the “Red
Lake” Resort (natural lake, unique in Romania). Day
8: Breakfast. Sightseeing tour of the city, including the Schei
Gate and District (architectural reservation), the Black Church (the
biggest gothic monument in Brasov), St. Nicholas Cathedral, The Old
Town Council Square and building, Ecaterina’s Gate).
Day
7: Breakfast in Sinaia. Visit the haunted house of Iulia Hasdeu
in Campina, well known for the dark magic rithuals which happened here
and the Snagov monastery which shelter the tombstone of Vlad Dracula
- the Impaler.
Optional: supp. 1 more night in Bucharest, at 3* hotel (Central) in Bucharest and transfer to airport in the following day (see rates in our accommodation section).
