Budget Program from the Hungarian border
Day
1: Cross the border of Romania by Nadlac. Drive on to Arad.
Followed the road to Alba Iulia. Sightseeing tour of the mediaeval fortress
with its gates, walls and with the historical centre. Visit the Cathedral
of Reunion. Departure to Sibiu. Sightseeing tour of the city including
the mediaeval fortress, the Liar’s Bridge, the Little and the
Big Squares, the Stairs Passage. Visit Bruckental Art Museum. Recreation
in the Museum of Traditional Folk Civilisation in the Dumbrava Park. Day
2: Departure to Curtea de Arges through the narrow path of
Olt. Short break at the Cozia Monastery. In Curtea de Arges, visit the
architectural complex which include the monastery and the fountain of
Master Manole (Romanian Tradition). Visit the Poenari Stronghold, which
was rebuilt by Vlad the Impaler as an eagle nest on the top of the mountain.
Continue the road to Targoviste. Visit the Chindia Tower and the former
princely court of Wallachia in Targoviste. Day
3: Departure to Bucharest. Sightseeing tour of Bucharest, including:
the Palace of Parliament (the second largest building in the world),
the Cotroceni Palace, the Village Museum/ the Romanian Countryman Museum,
the Unirii Square, the Archbishop’s Complex, the University Square,
the Romana Square, the Military Academy, the Athenaeum Building and
the Art Museum. Day
4: Visit the Peles & Pelisor Castles in Sinaia, the “Pearl
of Carpathians”, castles built in Neo-Renaissance German Style
in the last period of 19th century and former princely residence of
King Carol of Romania. Drive forward to Bran and visit the Bran Castle,
also known as “Dracula’s Castle”. Departure to Brasov
via Poiana Brasov, the most important winter resort in Romania. Sightseeing
tour of the city, including the Old Town Council Square with the Old
town council building, the Black Church, the St. Nicholas Church, the
Schei district (architectural reservation) with the Schei Gate. Optionally,
you can visit the fortified churches of Harman and Prejmer or you can
admire the panorama of the city in a cable-car trip to the Tampa Mountain. Day 5: Departure to Sighisoara, the last mediaeval fortress in Europe still fully inhabited. Sightseeing tour of the fortress, including the Tower Museum, the Cover Stairs, the Church on the Hill, the Mediaeval Weapons Collection and the Vlad Dracula’s House (birthplace). Continue the way to Hungary via Cluj Napoca and Oradea. Included
