Bran Castle

Day 1: (Wednesday) Budapest–Oradea – Cluj Napoca (Klausenburg) (~405 km): Departure from Budapest in the morning; meet your Romanian guide at the border and drive to Oradea; short sightseeing tour and lunch (optional); arrival in Cluj Napoca; accommodation and dinner at 3* hotel.

Day 2: (Thursday) Cluj Napoca– Targu Mures - Sighisoara – Brasov (~273 km): Breakfast; sightseeing tour of Cluj Napoca (Klausenburg); departure to Targu Mures (short sightseeing tour) and Sighisoara; City-tour, including the Mediaeval Fortress (the only mediaeval citadel in Europe that is fully inhabited; mentioned in 1280 as “Castrum Sex”), the Clock Tower Museum, the house in which Vlad the Impaler was born, the Cover Stairs and the Church on the Hill. Arrival in Brasov; accommodation and dinner at 3* hotel.

Day 3: (Friday) Brasov – Bran Castle – Sinaia – Bucharest (~235 km):
Breakfast. Sightseeing tour of the city, including the Schei Gate and District (architectural site), the Black Church – the largest gothic monument in Eastern Europe, St. Nicholas Cathedral, “Junii Brasovului” Museum, Ecaterina’s Gate). Departure to Prejmer (visit the church) and then to Bran Castle (Dracula’s Castle) – the symbol of Transylvania. Arrival in Sinaia; visit Peles Castle and its surroundings – the former summer residence of the Romanian Royal family. Departure to Bucharest; accommodation and dinner at 3* hotel.

 

Day 4: (Saturday) Bucharest – Pitesti – Curtea de Arges – Cozia Monastery – Sibiu (Hermannstadt) (~285 km):
After breakfast, sightseeing tour of the city, including the “House of the People” – the 2nd largest building in the world, and the “Village Museum”. Departure to Curtea de Arges - former capital of Wallachia during 14th century, where we visit the monastery (from 16th century); continue the way to Ramnicu Valcea. On the way to Sibiu, visit Cozia Monastery, erected in 14th century by Mircea the Old, Dracula’s grandfather. Passing throught Olt Strait, we arrive in Sibiu - once the richest town in Transylvania. accommodation and dinner at 3* hotel.

Day 5: (Sunday) Sibiu – Alba Iulia – Hunedoara – Arad – Budapesta (~575 km)
Breakfast. Sightseeing tour of the city, including the Museum of Traditional Civilization “Astra”, the Art Museum “Bruckental” – one of the best art galleries in Romania, the historic center, the Liar’s Bridge. Departure to Hunedoara Castle passing through Alba-Iulia (short tour of the city); after visiting the castle, drive to Arad and towards Hungary.
